Our Hours of Operation are Monday thru Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, closed from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
This is a unique opportunity to work for the Heiltsuk Community in a demanding yet rewarding position.
 
Position Description:
We are currently seeking to fill the position of On Call Patient Travel Clerk within the patient travel department. Under the direction of the Patient Travel Manager, the successful candidate will learn all aspects of administering the patient transportation program. Comprehensive on the job training will be provided and will commence upon hire.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Arrange transportation for clients to out-of-town medical appointment, including:
o Reviewing travel options
o Making flight & accommodation reservations
o Sending necessary cheque requisitions to Finance department
o Last minute travel arrangements as they arrive
o Bill payments/invoices
o Reimbursement Claim to First Nations Health Authority Monthly
o Verification Reports to First Nations Health Authority Monthly
• Assisting clients to ensure their needs are understood
• Sends relevant cheque requisitions to the Finance department for processing
• Processes invoices and bills as required, according to the policies of the Health Centre and of First Nations Health Authority
• Develops the reimbursement claim to First Nations Health Authority
• Provides verification and other reports to First Nations Health Authority
• Maintains records that meets the requirements of the First Nations Health Authority Medical Transportation Program
• Files documents as required
• Provides telephone relief for the Receptionist
• Liaises effectively with clients, provincial and federal government contacts, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders as required
• Actively participates with accreditation and other continuous improvement related activities
• Actively participates with client and staff safety initiatives and activities
• Maintains confidentiality of personal and business information
 
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Computer literacy
• Excellent organizational skills; able to maintain accurate and detailed records; problem solving skills; good verbal and written communication skills
• Able to meet deadlines, deal with multiple tasks and remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations/clients
• Self-motivated, works well with minimal supervision
• Ability to always maintain client confidentiality
• Pleasant and professional telephone mannerisms
• Willing to participate in formal and informal training as required
• Criminal record check

Salary: $18.00 – $21.00
