Job Description

The Friendship House Association of Prince Rupert is an inclusive community organization that provides programs & services in areas of education, recreation, health and culture; and is accepting applications for the following:


Position:        1 Part-time - Shuttle Bus Driver for Friendship EVAW Service

Term:            Contract Work, 16-30 hours per week; competitive wage dependent on experience $25-$30 per hour.


The Friendship EVAW Service does 2 x scheduled return trips per week to Terrace, BC; and provides service to chartered events pending bookings. This position is ideal for experienced drivers seeking part-time work.


Responsibilities:

·      The shuttle bus service, transports passengers to and from Terrace, BC same days, twice per week on a set schedule. The bus driver is responsible to transport passengers in a safe and timely manner. They will provide service to the customers, in a friendly manner for a pleasant experience. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who enjoys working with public, is dependable, polite, professional and customer driven, with excellent communication skills. The four-season driver must be willing to travel in extreme road/weather conditions and adhere to all safety road regulations. In addition to the bi-weekly return trips to Terrace, the drivers will on occasion be required to drive the shuttle bus for chartered events in local community and region.

·      Greet passengers, offer assistance

·      Must be able to drive any size of bus, with corresponding license; Class 4 preferrable

·      Load and unload passengers, belongings, while ensuring utmost care

·      Answer questions in polite, friendly manner

·      Follow all traffic laws and posted speed limits

·      Present self in professional manner, adhere to dress code

·      Report delays, mechanical problems, and be accountable

·      Reports to manager, track service dates, inspections, ensure vehicle is checked for fuel, fluids, etc. before each trip including returns

·      Ensure bus is cleaned after each use, garbage and personal items removed

·      Keep log of trips, mileage, and complete paperwork accurately

·      Drop-off and pick-up vehicle from maintenance services

·      Accept passenger fees; and submit to reception upon return to Friendship Centre in Prince Rupert.

·      Ensure safety, security, and comfort at all times


Qualifications:

·      Experience working inclusively with community and outline communities along Highway 16 Corridor

·      Solid understanding of Initiatives, purpose and Mission of the Friendship House and Friendship EVAW programming

·      Must have clean driver’s abstract of 10+ years, class 5, as well as class 4.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with individuals and groups.
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check
  • Knowledge & experience in working with public
  • A background in Social Work field an asset; related field, or community volunteerism.
