Job Posting:  Mental Health Liaison Worker

Location:      Friendship House, Prince Rupert BC

Employment Type: Part-Time, 15-20 hours per week; wage $25-$30 per hour

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, culturally competent Mental Health Liaison Worker to support individuals navigating mental health systems, build community wellness, and reduce stigma. This role acts as a bridge between clients, mental health services, and cultural supports – ensuring individuals receive respectful, coordinated, and effective care.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients, for assessment, referral services to counseling supports, and liaison with existing agencies in the field, to provide culturally appropriate mental health support, advocacy, and system navigation
  • Assist individuals in accessing mental health services, including referrals, intake, and follow-up
  • Liaise with mental health agencies, service providers, and community partners
  • Deliver wellness programming that promotes mental health, healing and resiliency
  • Support culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches to care
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare regular activity reports
  • Work collaboratively with staff, elders, knowledge keepers, and community members

Qualifications:

·       Diploma or degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Indigenous Studies, or a related field

·       Experience working in mental health, social services, or community support roles

·       Strong knowledge of Indigenous Cultures, traditions, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma

·       Ability to navigate and advocate withing the health care and mental health systems

·       Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

·       Commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and community-driven approaches

·       A valid driver’s license is an asset

  • Demonstrated organizational, evaluative, and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and keyboarding skills essential.
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Record Check.
