Job Description

Eagle Pointe Lodge is where you will find it. We are located on beautiful Wales Island, located just north of Prince
Rupert, BC.

Reporting to the Head Chef, we are seeking a talented Sous Chef who has a passion for food, cooking and presentation. The ideal candidate must be guest service oriented with a strong ability to take initiative to do what needs to be done to ensure guest satisfaction, with effective decision-making skills, and the ability to step in for the
Head Chef, when needed. Living a remote lifestyle, our Sous Chef needs to be a positive, team player and can work along side the other kitchen staff dedicated to providing an extraordinary guest experience.

This is a full-time, seasonal position with the approximate start and end dates are May 1 through to September 3.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial kitchen setting.
Valid food safe certificate.
Previous work experience in remote locations/lodge an asset.
Must have strong organizational skills and ability to react to suit operational support requirements, must be able to organize time effectively and prioritize tasks to cope with fluctuating workloads.
Physically fit, ability to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for the duration of your shift.


Work collaboratively with the Head Chef to plan, prepare, cook and present gourmet meals for guests and staff.
Will be responsible for preparing the guest breakfast, baking, lunches and staff meals.
Assign tasks to Lodge Assistant to prep, cook and cleaning as required.
Cleaning of kitchen, dishes as well as staff room including sweep and mop as required.
Barista services as required.
Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation of food production.
Ensure that food products, presentation and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared to serve in a timely manner.
Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary and in operational order.
Always seek out opportunities to be a team player which includes helping others and sharing workloads and to ask for help when it is needed, so that the quality of the guest experience is never compromised.
Keep track of lodge supplies and proactively supply lodge manager with lists for ordering.
Follow all food safety and sanitation.
