Job Description

The North Coast Transition Society (NCTS) is a feminist non-profit organization that provides free and confidential counselling and advocacy programs and services for women, men, children, and families who have survived trauma. NCTS offers safe shelter and housing options for those living with multiple barriers. On the NCTS team, there are 85 players in various roles and responsibilities.


The successful candidate for Program Director will provide a full range of duties, including:
•Oversee counselling and advocacy programs, Raven’s Keep Transition House and provide direct support to housing managers.
•Develop comprehensive plans & strategies, supervise, train, and motivate team to attain program objectives. Ensure effective case planning & management; and accountability to referring authorities/agencies.
•Manage labour relations issues related to hiring, performance appraisal, and discipline.
•Participate in various committees, working groups and associations. Maintain effective relationships with funders, government, services, and community.
•Write reports and grants.


The preferred candidate will have:
•Three years management experience
•Bachelor of Social Work or comparable degree in a human services discipline
•A valid Criminal Record Check
•A solid understanding of trauma, violence against women, and Indigenous cultural competency
•An ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, including participating in resolving and effectively managing stressful and emergency/crisis situations.
•Excellent written, oral facilitation and interpersonal skills.
•Demonstrated teamwork leadership and supervisory skills.
•Well-developed planning, organizing, and administrative skills.
