Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is proud to introduce the Youth Digital Incubator & Digital Co-op—an innovative employment and skills development program designed to help First Nations and newcomer youth build careers in today's digital economy while strengthening businesses and organizations throughout the North Coast.
This unique program combines paid work experience, professional mentorship, digital skills training, and financial literacy to prepare young people for meaningful employment, entrepreneurship, and long-term success.
Why This Program Matters
Young people in rural and northern communities often face barriers to employment, training, and career development. At the same time, many local businesses and non-profit organizations struggle to access affordable digital services such as website development, social media management, digital marketing, and content creation.
The Youth Digital Incubator bridges these two needs by creating opportunities for youth to gain real-world experience while providing valuable digital services that help local organizations grow.
By investing in local talent, we are investing in stronger communities, stronger businesses, and a more resilient regional economy.
What Participants Will Learn
Youth accepted into the program will receive hands-on training in:

Paid Work Experience
Every participant will have the opportunity to work on projects supporting local businesses, Indigenous organizations, community groups, and non-profit organizations.

The Digital Co-op
The Digital Co-op is a youth-led social enterprise that provides affordable digital services throughout the North Coast.
Services may include:
Revenue generated through the co-op is reinvested into youth training, employment opportunities, and future program growth, creating a sustainable model that benefits the entire community.

No previous digital experience is required. We are looking for motivated individuals who want to learn and grow.
