Job Type: Flexible (30-50 hrs/weekly)

Hourly Wage: $30-35 per hour

VESSEL OPERATIONS AGENT POSITION AVAILABLE

G.W. Nickerson Co. Ltd. is a long-established Northern B.C. ship agency providing professional marine agency and logistics services to the shipping industry. With decades of experience serving vessels in the region, we pride ourselves on reliability, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

We are seeking a part-time Vessel Operations boarding Agent vessel to join our Prince Rupert office. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational and communication skills who enjoys a dynamic, fast-paced work environment. Experience in vessel agency or port operations is an asset but not required. We are willing to train the right individual.


Key Responsibilities

  • Capable of performing physical tasks, including walking, climbing, and occasionally lifting, as required to board vessels.
  • Attend vessels on arrival and departure, representing the company professionally and ensuring smooth communication.
  • Board vessels as / when required.
  • Ensure operational compliance with company policies, local regulations, and safety standards.
  • Able to work non-standard hours, be on-call 24/7, and travel locally as needed.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Full, valid driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent).
  • Bondable and capable of meeting port access security requirements.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior maritime, logistics, or transportation industry experience is an asset but not essential.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience ($30-35 per hour).

  • Flexible weekly hours (typically 30–50 hours per week, depending on vessel volume).

Schedule

  • Able to work non-standard hours and travel locally as needed.
  • Must be available to attend vessel boardings and support vessel operations during scheduled shifts.
  • Regular work will occur during evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on vessel schedules and operational requirements.

·        Flexibility is essential, as vessel operations can change on short notice.

  • Training and coordination provided to ensure coverage and support from the operations team.
