FULL-TIME POSITION


Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is a non-profit organization that provides resources for jobseekers, newcomers, employers, and new entrepreneurs. Our mission is to serve and build connections for people to reach their employment, training, and settlement goals.

As a Settlement Coordinator you will collaborate on a small team to deliver settlement services to support immigrants and other newcomers on a one-on-one basis, and programming and workshops, and will build community connections for providing additional support.


Key Responsibilities:

•Orientate and provide information and referrals to immigrants and newcomers to Prince Rupert.

•Identify appropriate funding streams and services for each client.

•Support newcomers to develop and personal settlement plan that includes topics such housing, government service, education, language, and community connections.

•Identify, plan, and deliver workshops and information sessions in a one-to-one and group settings.

•Develop and deliver community connections and volunteering opportunities for clients.

•Identify immigration trends impacting the region to develop appropriate service response.

•Prepare program reports on client service, and immigration trends for funding agencies.

•Communicate with funds on day-to-day requests and service delivery items.

•Conduct community outreach and internal communications to provide program information, coordinate with other agencies, and network with relevant employers and market services such as: attending relevant service provider meetings and events to network and promote services, identifying and developing strategic long-term relationships, meetings and events to network and promote services, identifying and developing strategic long-term relationships in collaboration with and in coordination with other HSEDS team members, identifying and approaching employers and that have immigrant and newcomer staff or clientele to communicate information about supportive services.

Coordinate with WorkBC to refer and serve common clients, and to leverage WorkBC’s public resources to:

•Work in client databases and reporting systems to document, monitor and report on service use and outcomes.

•Coordinate with Finance on program budgets and program spending to ensure budget is on track.

•Research and develop funding opportunities, including monitoring funding bodies for new programs, service, and event opportunities, undertaking research related to new opportunities, and preparing proposals in collaboration with other HSEDS team members.

•Prepare annual work and service delivery plans to meet program and organization objectives.

•Conduct community outreach and internal communications to provide program information, coordinate with other agencies, and network with relevant employers and market services.

•Design program marketing and information material such as posters, pamphlets and social media content using funder and HSEDS communication standards, including creating and circulating information posters for events, program services and eligibility, and identifying and communicating important information about settlement issues to share on social media on an ongoing basis.

•Coordinate with other Settlement team members to ensure activities are on track, client information, touchpoints, and outcomes are communicated, and client data is documented.

•Work with other departments to design and deliver organization initiatives and events.

•Other related duties as assigned.


Desired Qualifications:

•At least 2 years’ experience supervising staff, planning, reporting, and managing resources, including human resources.

•A related certificate, designation, or degree (i.e. Social Sciences, Business Administration, community Development, Career Development, etc.) is preferable; however, a combination of experience and other education will be considered.

•Technologically literate.

•Ability to community effectively with a wide range of audiences in writing and in-person,

•Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

•Ability to maintain confidentiality.

•Experience delivering programs and services for and with newcomers.

•Able to work with people from all backgrounds and understand the needs and challenges.

•Able to engage and maintain a team dedicated to excellence in service.

•A relationship builder with strong interpersonal, coaching, negotiation, and presentation skills.

•Problem solver and ability to make decisions and take initiative.

•A desire to learn and adapt in a changing environment.

•Satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment.
