HVAC Mechanic

Prince Rupert, BC, Sullivan Mechanical Ltd. is a versatile Prince Rupert service contractor and installer for a variety of mechanical systems. We have been locally owned and operated on the North Coast of British Columbia for 25+ years. Our services consist of natural gas, propane gas, oil fired/forced air heating, hydronic heating, refrigeration systems; air-source heat pumps, as well as plumbing and commercial food equipment for a broad assortment of commercial clients.

We are looking for a HVAC Mechanic with 2 to 3 years experience to perform the following duties:

• Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
• Inspect HVAC equipment (furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units) to ensure proper operation
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing devices
• Replace or repair defective components such as motors, compressors, thermostats, and wiring
• Perform routine maintenance (cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating parts)

Installation & Setup

• Assist in installing ductwork, piping, and ventilation systems
• Measure, cut, and assemble materials according to specifications
• Ensure systems are installed according to building codes and safety standards

Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Identify system malfunctions and determine appropriate solutions
• Test system performance after repairs or installation
• Adjust controls and settings for optimal efficiency

Safety & Compliance

• Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment
• Handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements:

2 to 3 Years experience servicing residential and commercial HVAC units

• Licence/Certification: Air Conditioning & Refrigeration License (required)

Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems

Knowledge of electrical systems and refrigeration principles

Valid driver’s licence (often required for field work)

Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., WHMIS, WorkSafeBC)
