Job Description

GRADE 8/9 ENGLISH AND SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

GidGalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary School

 

 

An employment opportunity exists for a TEMPORARY Part-Time (0.714 FTE) Grade 8/9 English and Social Studies Teacher effective September 1, 2026 to the full return of the incumbent or no later than June 30, 2027 at GidGalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary School.

 

Requirements:

 

·      A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position;

·      Understanding and being committed to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children;

·      High level of skills related to successful classroom management, and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate;

·      Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;

·      Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students’ strengths and for their academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs;

·      Working with the learning services and administrative team to collaboratively develop and implement Individual Education Plans and Behavior Plans;

·      Knowledge of school-based teams;

·      Demonstrated ability in creating safe inclusive learning environments where students are connected, supported, engaged and challenged;

·      Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators;

·      Understanding of local resources and environment;

·      Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

 

Competitive Salary: $85,839 - $53,876 per annum

Remote and Rural Allowance: $2,499 per annum

Travel Allowance: $861 per annum

Up to $2,000 relocation allowance upon submission of receipts

 

Teachers currently employed with the district need only submit a letter of intent.
