Job Title: Assistant Camp Cook

Pay Range:

$220/day

$110/half day

Mileage will be reimbursed


Job Description:

K’aayxada Adventure Camp is looking for motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic people to be a part of our team for the upcoming camps. We are holding one, all-island Grade 11 camp this fall:

TBD In-town/virtual staff training (attendance required for all staff) Sept 26th-27th Camp open/ in person staff training (attendance required for all staff)

Sept 28th-Oct 2nd Grade 11 Mosquito Mountain Hike camp (attendance required for all staff)

Oct 3rd Camp close (attendance required for all staff)


Employees will have a unique opportunity to work with a wonderful Staff and great Youth at the remote and beautiful facility located at Mosquito Lake G̱awu Ḵuns Siiwaay.


We are looking to fill an Assistant Camp Cook position and the tasks required are as follows:

● Assist the Lead Cook in the daily operations of the camp kitchen

● Assist in the preparation of food for meals and snacks

● Prepare spaces for serving meals

● Ensure that all food is properly stored

● Help unload and put away food

● Assist in daily cleaning of the cookhouse

● Check with Lead Cook for participant numbers and lists of allergies and dietary needs for each week of camp

● Work closely with the Lead Cook to plan a menu for each week including 3 meals and 2 snacks per day

● Assist in the supervision of campers, volunteers and staff in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of all meals and snacks

● Help maintain the organization and inventory of food supplies in the food storage areas

● Help clean up and organize kitchen for Camp Close


Job Requirements:

1. Food Safe Certification

2. Knowledge of Xaad kil and/or Xaayda kil an asset

3. Valid WFR and WAFA certificates a major asset

4. Knowledge of Haida Cultural Values an asset

5. Experience working with Youth an asset

6. A Police Information Check will be required for successful candidates
