Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in
Social Work; or equivalent related
degree with one year or more
experience.
Must have sound knowledge of, the
Child, Family and Community Services
Act (CFCSA), and An Act Respecting First
Nations, Inuit and Metis children, youth
and families (Bill C-92).
Location: (1) in Gaw Tlagée Old Massett
and (1) in HlGaagilda Skidegate
Wage: $41.98/hour

Reporting to the Director of
Practice, the Social Worker will
provide culturally appropriate and
holistic services to Haida children
and families within the parameters
provided by An Act Respecting First
Nations, Metis and Inuit children,
youth and families, the Aboriginal
Operational and Practice Standards
and Indicators (AOPSI) and the B.C.
Child, Family and Community
Services Act.
Services are provided based on the
premise that families have the intent
and desire to nurture and protect
their children, and are only done so
on a voluntary basis, meaning the
families must be willing to receive
support.
Pursuant to s. 41 of the BC Human
Rights Code, preference may be given
to qualified applicants of Indigenous
ancestry.
