Position:          Infant/Toddler Early Childhood Educator

Location:         Skidegate Infant/Toddler Centre

Rate of Pay:     $26 an hour

-plus CCOF wage enhancement ($6 an hour with some restrictions)

-extended benefits after 3 months

-2 weeks vacation after first year (increases with years working)

Start Date:       ASAP

 

The Skidegate Early Childhood Education Centre is seeking a full-time Infant/Toddler Educator to provide quality, inclusive childcare services in a group setting, under the direction of the Early Childhood Education Supervisor. The position will be 5 days per week, 7 hours per day.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • ECE Infant/Toddler License to Practice
  • Criminal Record Check, valid Child Safe First Aid
  • Medical clearance/immunization status
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the ECE Supervisor to ensure programs are delivered in a professional, ethical, and efficient manner, maintaining the highest standards possible
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally and culturally appropriate activities and experiences for the children in the Infant/Toddler Centre
  • Lead children in a variety of activities that are both age and developmentally appropriate
  • Provide relevant information to parents in a timely manner as directed by ECE Supervisor

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive experience working with children 0-5 years and their families
  • Familiar with basic approaches of conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Able to work in a team environment while providing care for children
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations communities, culture and issues
  • Must possess strong communication and public relations skills
  • Must possess good organizational skills
  • Must be flexible with regard to work situations
