We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Harbour Attendant to join our team at a busy commercial fishing dock. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our harbour, providing assistance to fishing vessels, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for both staff and customers.
Duties
- Assist fishing vessels with docking, mooring and securing lines
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of dock facilities and equipment.
- Manage vessel inventories and assist with loading and unloading of goods.
- Provide support with electrical connections and other operational needs for vessels.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dock area and surrounding facilities.
- Operate harbour equipment, including forklifts and other machinery, as needed.
- Assist customers with inquiries and provide exceptional service.
- Perform outdoor operational duties in varying weather conditions.
- Comply with safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a maritime or fishing environment preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Driver's License and Pleasure Craft Operator's Card Required
- Forklift certification and Air Brakes endorsement preferred (training available)
- Physicallyt fit and able to perform demanding tasks
- Knowledge of the commercial fishing industry and boating practices is a plus.
Work Schedule
This position typically requires 40 hours per seek, with weekend shifts
