Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Harbour Attendant to join our team at a busy commercial fishing dock. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our harbour, providing assistance to fishing vessels, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for both staff and customers.

Duties

  • Assist fishing vessels with docking, mooring and securing lines
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of dock facilities and equipment.
  • Manage vessel inventories and assist with loading and unloading of goods.
  • Provide support with electrical connections and other operational needs for vessels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dock area and surrounding facilities.
  • Operate harbour equipment, including forklifts and other machinery, as needed.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and provide exceptional service.
  • Perform outdoor operational duties in varying weather conditions.
  • Comply with safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a maritime or fishing environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Driver's License and Pleasure Craft Operator's Card Required
  • Forklift certification and Air Brakes endorsement preferred (training available)
  • Physicallyt fit and able to perform demanding tasks
  • Knowledge of the commercial fishing industry and boating practices is a plus.

Work Schedule

This position typically requires 40 hours per seek, with weekend shifts

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
