Organization: XaaydaGa Dlaang Society (Skidegate Wellness Centre)

Contract Term: March 1, 2026 – September 2027

Position Type: Term Employee – Non-Union, 0.2-0.3 FTE

Location: Haida Gwaii (Hybrid – on-site and remote as required)

Compensation: $35/hr - $40/hr

Reports to: Health Director 

1. About Xaaydaga Dlaang Society – Skidegate Wellness Centre

Xaaydaga Dlaang Society (XDS), operating as Skidegate Wellness Centre, is a Haida-led, communitybased organization providing integrated health and wellness services to the Skidegate community and 

surrounding areas in Haida Gwaii. Services are grounded in Haida values, cultural safety, and community 

priorities, and include primary care, mental health and wellness, cultural healing, health promotion, and 

community capacity-building initiatives.

2. Purpose of the Position

The Project Coordinator will lead the day-to-day coordination and implementation of the Indigenous 

Cultural Competency and Employer Readiness Training Project. The position is responsible for ensuring 

the project is delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with Haida values, community priorities, 

and funder requirements.

The Project Coordinator will support development of training materials, coordinate engagement with 

Elders, Knowledge Holders, consultants, and partner organizations, and support pilot implementation 

with the Primary Care Network (PCN) in Haida Gwaii.

3. Scope of Work

The Project Coordinator will manage all operational aspects of the project, including planning, 

scheduling, coordination, documentation, and reporting. The role requires strong organizational skills, 

experience working in Indigenous or community-based settings, and the ability to work respectfully with 

diverse partners.

The position does not replace or duplicate existing staff roles and is a new, project-specific hire created 

to support successful delivery of this initiative.

4. Detailed Project Milestones

a) Recruitment and Onboarding

Description: Complete hiring, onboarding, and orientation to organizational policies, 

Haida community context, project goals, timelines, and reporting requirements.

b) Project Planning and Workplan Finalization

Description: Finalize detailed project workplan, timelines, engagement schedules, and 

deliverables in collaboration with leadership and consultants.

c) Community and Partner Coordination

Description: Coordinate engagement with Elders, Knowledge Holders, cultural advisors, 

media/design contractors, and participating organizations, including PCN partners.

d) Training and Toolkit Development Support

Description: Support development of training modules, onboarding tools, and HR 

resources; coordinate feedback loops, revisions, and cultural review processes.

e) Pilot Implementation and Training Delivery

Description: Coordinate pilot delivery of training with the Primary Care Network and 

other participating organizations; manage logistics, scheduling, and materials.

f) Reporting, Evaluation, and Project Wrap-Up

Description: Compile project documentation, participation records, feedback 

summaries, and final reporting materials for funder and organizational use.

5. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all project activities, timelines, and deliverables.

• Act as the primary point of contact for project partners, consultants, and participants.

• Schedule and support meetings, training sessions, and community engagement activities.

• Maintain accurate project records, budgets, and documentation.

• Support culturally safe engagement with Elders, Knowledge Holders, and Haida community 

members.

• Monitor progress against project milestones and identify risks or delays.

• Support preparation of interim and final funder reports.

• Ensure project activities align with Haida values, protocols, and community priorities.

6. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Experience coordinating community-based or Indigenous-led projects.

• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with Indigenous communities.

• Understanding of cultural safety, Indigenous governance, and community engagement 

principles.

• Experience supporting training, capacity-building, or workforce development initiatives is an 

asset.

• Familiarity with health, social service, or public sector environments is preferred.

7. Deliverables

• Detailed project workplan and schedule

• Coordinated engagement sessions and training events

• Draft and final training and toolkit materials (in collaboration with consultants)

• Participation and feedback summaries

• Final project report and documentation package
