MENTAL HEALTH WELLNESS SUPPORT TEACHER

Sḵ ́aadg̱aa Naay Elementary School

 

An employment opportunity exists for a Temporary Part-Time (0.2 FTE) Mental Health Wellness Support Teacher effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 Sḵ ́aadg̱aa Naay Elementary School

 

Requirements:

·      A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position;

·      Understanding and being committed to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children;

·      High level of skills related to successfully supporting implementation methods to help students develop self-regulation, and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate;

·      Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;

·      Experience, training, knowledge of social emotional learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive school community contributing to a safe, caring and healthy environment where every student feels a sense of belonging.

·      Possess an understanding of and an ability to assist in the development and execution of Individual Education Planning and Behavioural Plans;

·      Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators;

·      Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students with academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs;

·      Knowledge of school-based teams;

·      Understanding of local resources and environment;

·      The ability to work in a team situation daily in the classroom;

·      Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

 

Competitive Salary: $15,083 - $24,044 per annum

Remote and Rural Allowance: $700 per annum

Travel Allowance: $241 per annum

Up to $2,000 relocation allowance upon submission of receipts

 

Teachers currently employed with the district need only submit a letter of intent.
