Job Description

Position Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Wage: $26.00/hr Start Date: March 01, 2026

About the Role The Kitchen & Garden Coordinator supports the daily wellness, nutrition, and cultural connection of adults living in a Haida-centred second-stage recovery home. This role prepares nourishing, home-style meals, cares for on-site garden spaces, and helps create a welcoming kitchen environment that supports healing, routine, and independence in recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare three nutritious meals daily and snacks for up to six residents, using seasonal menus and shared meals when possible.

• Plan menus with the House Manager, incorporating cultural foods, resident preferences, nutrition, and budget.

• Accommodate allergies, medical diets, and cultural needs.

• Manage grocery shopping, food inventory, and kitchen budgets.

• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen that meets health, safety, and licensing standards.

• Care for on-site gardens and integrate harvested foods into meals.

• Support community connection through shared meals and special events.

• Document meal and nutrition-related information and report concerns to the House Manager.

• Participate in staff meetings, training, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in food preparation, kitchen coordination, or hospitality (preferably in a residential or community setting).

• Experience working with adults in recovery or with mental health, substance use, trauma, or housing instability.

• Knowledge of food safety and safe food-handling practices (Community Care Facility standards). Physical ability to meet job demands (standing, lifting, cleaning, garden work).

• Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector), foodSafe Level 1 and First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
