Kal Naay Alder House Kitchen Staff

Kal Naay Alder House is seeking part time Kitchen Staff for our facility in Daajing Giids. This is a supportive living facility that includes two meals a day and assistance with life skills. Food is an integral part of support and healing and we are looking for an individual who wants to share their love of cooking with our residents.

As a member of our Kitchen staff, you will be responsible to maintain the commercial kitchen, providing a cold breakfast, cooking a hot dinner, and clean-up. The Kitchen team works together to plan a nutritious varied menu and maintain and replenish the supplies inventory.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen setting or equivalent experience is required.

You must have the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and operate the related equipment. You must be able to work independently and in cooperation with others. Your ability to gain trust and build relationships with the residents will be important. You should be organized, efficient and flexible with good oral and written communication skills.  Basic computer skills with Word and Excel would be an asset.

You will be expected to have a non-judgmental attitude and maintain confidentiality of all personal and private information.

All staff, whether part-time, full-time or volunteer, are required to have a Criminal Records Check for working with vulnerable individuals. Certification of attendance in the following courses are required for the job, and if not already certified, the employer will provide training:

·       Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training

·       Food Safe Level 1

·       Mental Health Awareness and De-escalation

·       Working Alone Safely in BC

·       Standard First Aid
