About the Role:
We are looking for a reliable and culturally aware Janitor to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of our facilities. You will help create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for staff, clients, and community members, supporting day-to-day operations while honouring Indigenous values and holistic wellness principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Clean and sanitize offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas according to schedules and safety protocols.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, report larger issues, and support event setup and teardown.
• Follow occupational health and safety policies, infection prevention protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain logs of cleaning schedules, maintenance tasks, and supplies inventory.
• Support a clean, welcoming, and culturally respectful environment for all staff, clients, and community members.
• Collaborate respectfully with team members and staff to support facility needs and community events.
• Demonstrate flexibility to respond to urgent cleaning or maintenance requests.
Education & Training:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or facility maintenance roles an asset.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedure.
Preferred Experience & Knowledge:
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitization procedures, occupational health and safety standards, and general maintenance practices.
• Awareness of Indigenous protocols, traditions, and values when working in community spaces.
• Ability to organize tasks, maintain records, and complete work efficiently and safely.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
