Job Description

Position: Human Resources Clerk – Summer Student

Location: Prince Rupert, BC

Department/Team: Administration

Wages: $20/hr


POSITION OVERVIEW

Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with a mandate to provide employment programming and training to enhance the opportunities of the residents of the North Coast, Haida Gwaii and Bella Bella. HSEDS provides resources for jobseekers, newcomers, employers, and new entrepreneurs. Our mission is to serve and build connections for people to reach their employment, training, and settlement goals.

As a HSEDS Human Resources Clerk you are responsible for assisting the organization through HR related tasks of: processing paperwork, assisting with documents, scheduling interviews, responding to employee inquiries and assisting other administrative tasks as assigned. This role can be remote.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific Duties:

  • Assisting with job descriptions for available vacancies in the organization.
  • Assist with scheduling and conducting interviews.
  • Assisting with onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Assisting with updating documents within the organization. 
  • Verification of employee documents and organizing them appropriately.
  • Perform data entry and filing of HR related documents.
  • Collaboration with various departments whenever needed.
  • Assisting with attendance and vacation documentation.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • One-year experience preferrable;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Attention to detail in proofreading;
  • Demonstrated exceptional computer software skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills;
  • A high degree of professionalism and respect for confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of labour laws, legislation and HR practices is advantageous.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
