Job Summary
The Housing Manager provides overall leadership, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of a culturally supportive, second-stage recovery housing program in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures the home operates safely, effectively, and in alignment with organizational policies, cultural values, and community expectations.
The Housing Manager is responsible for staff supervision, scheduling, and performance management; resident intake and case coordination; budget oversight; and maintaining strong relationships with community partners and service providers. This role requires a balance of operational leadership, relational support, and crisis responsiveness, grounded in trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and culturally safe practice.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily housing program operations, ensuring safety, maintenance, and policy compliance.
•
Manage staff schedules, provide guidance, mentorship, and support professional development.
•
Conduct resident intakes, orientations, and case management, supporting housing stability and access to services.
•
Provide one-on-one support, advocacy, and referrals, including mental health and community resources.
•
Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and maintain program resources efficiently.
•
Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, staff, and community partners, including Indigenous organizations.
•
Respond to incidents and concerns promptly, ensuring proper follow-up and documentation.
Required Education & Experience

Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in housing, social services, recovery, or community-based programs.
•
Relevant post-secondary education or training may be considered in combination with a minimum of one (1) year of management experience.
•
Demonstrated experience in budget management, including tracking expenditures and overseeing purchasing.
•
Experience working cooperatively with people with lived experience of substance use, mental health challenges, trauma, or disability.
•
Experience working within non-profit, social service, family support, or Indigenous-led programs is considered an asset.
•
Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check for Working with Vulnerable Adults.
•
Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
