Location: Tlell, Haida Gwaii

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hrs/week

Start Date : mid February

Salary: $25-26/hr, depending on experience

We’re looking for someone special to join our art gallery team at Crystal Cabin Gallery - someone who

truly cares about supporting local artists, celebrating Haida Gwaii’s unique creative identity, and

delivering an exceptional experience to the people who visit our space.

This role is perfect for a person who loves art, enjoys connecting with people, takes pride in presenting

beautiful things with care, and wants to be part of a small, values-led business that is deeply woven into

the community here.

About the Crystal Cabin Gallery:

We are a local art gallery and jewellery store in Tlell, Haida Gwaii. We specialize in highlighting artwork

and jewellery by Haida and Northwest Coast artists. We also sell high-quality crystals and minerals. In

since 1984, now run by the second generation. We are woman-owned and operated. Learn more

What You’ll Be Doing

This role includes day-to-day gallery operations and supporting marketing and online efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Welcome every visitor warmly, help them explore artwork and jewellery from local artists, and contribute to a friendly, inviting atmosphere in the gallery - even when others on the team are assisting customers.
  • Start in a supportive sales role, working closely with a team member as you learn our flow, style, and product stories. As you build confidence, you’ll move into handling your own sales.
  • Process sales, answer questions, wrap purchases and support returns
  • Keep displays looking their best throughout the day, including restocking and polishing jewellery
  • Support content creation and photo shoots - this includes helping organize and prepare models, assisting the photographer, setting up and carefully handling equipment, and contributing to the overall success of marketing content. You may occasionally be asked to participate in photoshoot or appear in brand content, with appropriate consent and a signed photo release form.
  • Assist with product uploads, online listings and packaging orders for shipping
  • Maintain cleanliness of the gallery interior and supporting light exterior upkeep
  • Support gallery events and special features as needed
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency, safety, and the highquality experience our gallery is known for, including opening and closing routines, product handling guidelines, safety practices, and customer service standards.
  • Provide support with inventory administration, including updating inventory quantities and cost details in the inventory management system as new stock arrives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Genuine connection to Haida Gwaii and respect for the art, artists and culture of this place
  • Positive, detail-oriented, community-minded and reliable
  • Enjoys working collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Comfortable learning new tasks and growing skills over time (including potential development in Sales)
  • Customer service experience is helpful (but not required - attitude, curiosity and care matter most)

Hours & Compensation

Full-Time - approximately 40 hours per week. Core schedule will include Saturdays, with remaining

working days determined based on operational needs and may be adjusted from time to time.

Wage range: $25.00 to 26.00 per hour, depending on experience.

This role is based in Tlell and works closely with local community members and visitors. To provide an

authentic, community-aligned experience, we’re seeking candidates who have a strong connection to

Haida Gwaii - whether through lived experience, community involvement, or a deep understanding of

local culture and values.

Anticipated start date: mid-February 2026, with training beginning at that time (flexible within a

reasonable window for the right candidate).

Additional Benefits

Full-time employees will be eligible for a Health Spending Account after three (3) months of employment

(amount discretionary). The Gallery is also exploring additional insurance benefit options, which may be

introduced in the future.

Our Commitment to Equity & Inclusion

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and are particularly interested in hearing from

individuals who have a strong connection to Haida Gwaii, understand the local community and cultural

values, or bring lived experience that aligns with the Gallery’s mission to promote local artists and

Indigenous art. We value equity and diversity in our workplace and encourage applications from equityseeking

groups, including Indigenous peoples.
