The City of Prince Rupert is currently recruiting for one (1) permanent Clerical Assistant to join our team in the Public Works Sector of the Operations Department. This position will be guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week. A Clerical Assistant will perform a wide range of moderately difficult clerical work and will be a back-up for the First Aid Attendant. Along with regular administrative duties, you will be required to provide support to the Storeskeeper and Timekeeper. The relief First Aid Attendant will provide a level of care within their scope of training to preserve life and minimize the consequences of injury until medical treatment is obtained. Timekeeper duties include the preparation, calculation and completion of a moderately complex biweekly payroll along with checking and verifying time submitted, adherence to the Collective Agreement, data entry, performing payroll reconciliations, and the ability to prepare detailed complex reports. Additionally, you will be required to provide relief to Landfill Scale House Attendant. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to ensure the timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks while dealing with multiple priorities, the public and City staff. This position involves a high level of confidentiality which must always be maintained. The successful candidate must follow the City of Prince Rupert’s purchasing policy, procedures and standard practices. This is an attendance sensitive position. Upon proof of Occupational First Aid Intermediate or Advanced Certification the incumbent may be eligible for the $1.25 per hour premium.
