Job Description

SUPERINTENDENTS CIVIL AND CONSTRUCTION DIVISIONS

Progressive Ventures Construction is seeking experienced, career-minded Superintendents who are looking to grow with our company and continue advancing their careers.

This position is suited for strong construction leaders with experience managing field crews, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining schedule, and delivering work safely and efficiently. Our work includes commercial, industrial, civil, concrete, building construction, and remote project work throughout Northwest BC and beyond.

We are open to candidates with experience in either civil construction, building construction, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate day-to-day site construction activities and supervise field personnel

• Plan, organize, and direct crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and site logistics

• Complete projects safely, on schedule, on budget, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, addenda, and approved changes

• Supervise small, large, and complex construction projects effectively and efficiently

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements

• Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews

• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure site compliance with company policies and WorkSafeBC requirements

• Identify field issues early and help develop practical solutions

• Support project reporting, daily records, quality control, and change tracking as required

Construction / Building Superintendent Experience:

Candidates with construction or building experience may have a background in:

• Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, or general building construction

• Concrete foundations, slabs, walls, formwork, and structural concrete

• Building envelope, framing, roofing, doors, windows, finishes, and related scopes

• Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Specialty trade familiarity

• Coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors on active construction sites

• Managing schedules, site access, material deliveries, deficiencies, and owner/consultant coordination

• Reading and interpreting architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings

Civil Superintendent Experience:

Candidates with civil experience may have a background in:

• Siteworks, excavation, grading, backfill, and roadworks

• Underground utilities, including storm, sanitary, water, and duct banks

• Concrete civil structures, foundations, pads, vaults, and related infrastructure

• Industrial site development and heavy civil construction

• Coordinating survey, testing, inspections, equipment, trucking, and subcontractors

• Reading and interpreting civil, structural, utility, and site servicing drawings

The successful candidate in either field will:

• Have extensive experience in commercial, industrial, civil, or general construction

• Have proven experience supervising field crews and coordinating construction activities

• Be knowledgeable in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

• Have a strong understanding of construction sequencing, planning, productivity, and site logistics

• Be an effective and professional communicator in a positive team environment

• Have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate crews and subcontractors

• Be safety-focused, organized, practical, and accountable

• Hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Anticipated Annual Income:

• $100,000 to $230,000 annually, depending on experience, project assignment, schedule, overtime, travel, and role responsibilities

Additional Pay and Incentives:

• Overtime pay

• Paid flights for eligible shift work

Schedule:

• Full-time, permanent

• Monday to Friday, typical

• Overtime and weekends as required

• Shift work and out-of-town work may be required

• Project schedules may vary depending on location and scope of work

Experience:

• Construction supervision: 5+ years preferred

• Commercial, industrial, civil, concrete, or building construction experience preferred, but all backgrounds welcome to apply

• Journeyman trade certification, technical diploma, relevant bachelors/ post graduate or equivalent field experience is considered an asset

• Computer competency and familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, Excel & Microsoft Projects are assets.

Work Location:

• In person, based out of Terrace, BC, with work locations throughout BC
