Administration Manager, Haida Gwaii Institute 


Job Title: Administration Manager, 0.6 FTE part time, ongoing position 

Job Category & Profile: M&P – AAPS; AAPS Salaried – Administration, Level A 

Department: Haida Gwaii Institute | Dean’s Office | Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship 

Compensation Range: $5,791.00 - $8,323.42 CAD monthly (based on a 1FTE) 


We are looking for a new Administration Manager at the Haida Gwaii Institute! This is a core, ongoing role 

on our management team. The Administration Manager oversees the administrative operations of the Haida 

Gwaii Institute (HGI), including finance and human resource functions, and is responsible for the 

interpretation and implementation of university policies and procedures to ensure compliance. The role also 

leads the enhancement of administrative and operational systems to support organizational effectiveness and 

growth. The works performed are categorized as financial administration (40%), human resource management 

(30%), and administration (30%). This position is based in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii. Apply by May 29, 2026

Minimum Qualifications 

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline; minimum of two years of related experience, or the 

equivalent combination of education and experience 

• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own 

• Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, 

diversity, and inclusion 


Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in accounting, administrative management and human resource management 

• Related experience working and living in Haida Gwaii, or other Indigenous or rural community is preferred; 

working knowledge of the natural resource industry on Haida Gwaii preferred 

• Graduate degree in a relevant discipline to the Haida Gwaii Institute 

• An awareness of University of British Columbia policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on 

financial policies and procedures 

• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, problem resolution and 

organizational skills 

• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, effectively multi-task, and exercise patience, tact and 

discretion
