Job Description

Position: Personal support worker
Location: In Client’s home and within the Masset community
Qualifications and skills: Valid First Aid and CPR.
Valid driver’s licence and clear driver’s abstract and access to reliable 
vehicle. (mileage reimbursed by employer)
Understanding of, and adherence to all public health requirements.
Ability to communicate in English – both verbal and written.
Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Job type: Permanent part-time.
Hours: 23 hours per week. Daytime hours with the occasional prearranged evening 
and/or weekend hours.
Salary: $32.00 and $35.00 per hour, dependant upon experience.
Specific Job Requirements:
• Must be dependable, patient, trustworthy, and able to maintain the highest level of client 
confidentiality. 
• Ensure necessary medication is taken by the client throughout the day.
• Provide reminders and prompts to ensure other medically vital tasks are completed as required.
• Assist with regular exercises and use of medical equipment.
• Assist with glucose monitoring and insulin preparation. (Client self administers injections)
• Assist client with meal preparation and be present during meals (choking hazard).
• Providing friendship and emotional support to the client.
• Transport, attend and/or engage in activities the client enjoys and can perform.
• Offer mobility assistance when required. (Support, not lift or transfer.)
• Must be physically able to support client who has limited mobility. 
• Must be able to navigate stairs multiple times a day.
• Occasionally assist the client with maintaining personal hygiene.
• Occasionally transport client to and from medical appointment.
• Monitor changes in physical and mental health.
• Ability to maintain a clean-living environment including light housework, sweeping, dusting, 
washing floors, vacuuming, laundry, dishes etc. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of individuals living with cognitive and physical 
decline.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Helping client with meal planning and shopping.
• Performing first aid and emergency care during critical situations
