CFI Surveyor in Training (SIT)

Hourly Range: $22.00 to $24.00/hour
Taan Forest Limited Partnership (Taan), a subsidiary of Haida Enterprises Corporation (HaiCo) an Indigenous-owned company wholly owned by the Council of the Haida Nation and Secretariate of the Haida Nation is seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of its team on Haida Gwaii, an archipelago off the British Columbia Northwest Coast.
POSITION SUMMARY
As CFI Surveyor in Training, you will report directly to the Operations Engineer. This is an entry-level general forestry position where you will be working in a team environment and exposed to several different aspects of forestry, including but not limited to cultural feature identification, forest engineering, silviculture and general operations. You will be assisting Taan certified CFI surveyors and Taan Engineers. This position is based out of Taan’s Skidegate office or Masset. This position will require travel to Taan’s operations throughout Graham, Moresby and Louise Islands on Haida Gwaii. You will be expected to be at Taan’s Skidegate office on workdays at 7:00 am to start your field day, returning to the office at 5:00 pm daily. If the successful candidate lives in Masset, then you will be expected to leave Masset at 7 am, returning at 5 pm.
This is an hourly position with the first 8 hours of the workday paid at straight time and the remaining 1.5 hours paid as overtime. A 30-minute unpaid break is included in the workday. Your work attitude and skills will continually be evaluated for other positions and career opportunities at Taan and other HaiCo Companies.
Taan Forest will support and mentor the successful candidate in completing their Cultural Feature Identification Certification.
