A Carpenter’s Helper assists experienced carpenters in the construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. The role supports carpenters by physical labor, handling tools, preparing materials and ensuring the worksite is organized and safe.


Key Duties and Responsibilities


Assisting with Site Preparation:

Help prepare and clean the worksite, ensuring it is safe and organized. Set up tools, scaffolding, and materials for use by the carpenters.


Material Handling:

Load, unload, and transport materials (lumber, tools, etc.) to and from the job site. Cut, measure, and organize materials based on carpenter’s instructions.


Tool and Equipment Maintenance:

Assist with maintaining and cleaning tools and equipment. Ensure tools are in working condition and report any damages or maintenance needs.


Assisting with Carpentry Tasks:

Hold materials or tools for the carpenter while they are working. Help install framing, drywall, windows, doors or other components as directed.


General Labor:

Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting or carrying heavy items. Assist with demolition work when necessary, such as removing old structures or materials.


Safety Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment. Wear protective gear and assist in maintaining a clean, hazard- free workspace.


Learning and Training:

Continuously learn carpentry techniques and safety standards. Take direction from lead carpenters and senior staff to improve skills and knowledge of the trade.


Requirements:

  • Have a valid BC Class 5 drivers license.
  • Have a cellphone.
  • Live in Daajing Giids.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to learn follow instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
