Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with a mandate to provide employment programming and training to enhance the opportunities of the residents of the North Coast, Haida Gwaii and Bella Bella. HSES provides resources for job seekers, newcomers, employers, and new entrepreneurs. Our mission is to serve and build connections for people to reach their employment, training, and settlement goals.
As a Training Facilitator you are responsible for providing training in topics such as employability skills, essential skills, and life skills, to the general public and to HSEDS program clients, as well as deliver training of HSEDS training programs. This role also provides basic computer technical support as needed.

•Experience training and/or facilitating group training sessions,
•Ability to motivate and inspire adult learners with various levels of education and experience,
•Knowledge of the local labour market, employer needs, population traits and community resources,
•Strong research and development skills to independently develop, market, and deliver training programs,
•Ability to work comfortably in virtual and in-person classroom settings.
Key Responsibilities:
•Create a positive and interactive learning environment for participants,
•Design and prepare course content to meet training objectives,
•Market courses to maximize enrollment, and develop and monitor wait lists for upcoming courses,
•Deliver engaging and information filled training sessions and workshops to reach stated objectives,
•Adjust delivery material and approach to meet the needs of the clients in virtual and online settings as required,
•Prepare, deliver and analyze training evaluations,
•Monitor participant progress to promote strong outcomes, and report on progress as required,
•Consult with other program areas to identify client training and workshop needs and priorities,
•Research, identify, and develop new topics and approaches to fit with local labour market demands,
•Maintenance and upkeep of curriculum library as required,
•Research proposal opportunities and develop proposals and ongoing delivery of training topics to clients,
•Work collaboratively on a team that has members in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii, and be actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission and goals of HSEDS, and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our clients and teammates,
•Develop and maintain effective communication across all departments,
•Participate in organization initiatives, events and special projects,
•Promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating with colleagues in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect,
•Other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
•Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Human Service of Adult Education sector,
•Post secondary education in social sciences, education, communications, or a related field,
•Provincial Instructors Diploma is considered an asset,
•Preference will be given to those with expertise in one or more of the following areas: computers, hospitality and tourism, construction industry, customer service, and/or adult education,
•Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and Word, Outlook, and the internet, as well as video conferencing and online learning software,
•Ability to multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines,
•Excellent oral and written communication skills,
•Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently,
•A high degree of professionalism, and respect for confidentiality,
•Travel to surrounding communities, and a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are requirements of this position,
•May be required to work the occasional evening and/or weekend, and,
•Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
