The City of Prince Rupert is looking for a positive, organized, and self-motivated individual to join us as our new RCMP Office Manager. In this role, you will work closely with the Detachment Commander and the Operations NCO, and report directly to the City Manager. You will be responsible for providing essential managerial and administrative support to the Prince Rupert Detachment, including handling labour relations and highly sensitive matters.

What you’ll do…

• Perform management functions pertaining to all municipal staff at the Detachment.

• Mentor, supervise, and direct the activities of the Detachment’s Municipal Employees to ensure that all clerical and administrative functions are met.

• Be involved with labour relations relating to all municipal support at the Detachment.

• Maintain all municipal employee personnel files, including sensitive and confidential information on employees and labour relations issues.

• Provide and recommend training and other learning opportunities for the Detachment’s Municipal Employees.

• Serve as the Security Coordinator for the Detachment – obtaining security clearances for new employees and contractors, and ensuring proper sign-in procedures are followed.

• Monitor expenditures, and review and analyze the Detachment Policing budget.

• Liaise with internal and external computer technology personnel and agencies.

• Assist in the coordination of overall building and property management for the Detachment, including contracting and overseeing work for janitorial and building maintenance contractors.

• Update the Fire Safety Plan annually for approval by the Officer in Charge.

• Conduct quality reviews and participate in management reviews of operational Records Management Systems (RMS) to ensure compliance with policy and verify the integrity of records.

• Ensure records are maintained regarding weapon maintenance.

• Monitor diary dates and ensure suitable actions are conducted as required.

• Maintain the Detachment’s administrative filing system.

• Retrieve statistics from Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME) for reporting as directed by the Officer in Charge.

• Supervises the development, implementation and monitoring of PRIME business processes and workflows for the detachment; maintains awareness of E Division PRIME policy amendments and advises detachment PRIME users accordingly.

• Ensures the operation and maintenance of the cellblock are conducted within departmental policy and legislative guidelines.

• Conduct, attend, and take minutes for various workplace meetings, and transcribe and distribute them to the relevant parties.

• Attend detachment senior management meetings to discuss issues relating to overall detachment operations.

• Provide support for RCMP Victim Services.

• Carry out additional related tasks and functions as assigned by the City and the Officer in Charge or their designate.


What you’ll bring…

• Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident/Landed Immigrant).

• Completion of post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field from a recognized institution. Equivalent experience and education may be considered.

• Minimum of five (5) years of office management experience.

• Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor the progress of all direct reports.

• Experience with budget preparation and management.

• Demonstrated ability and experience in preparing, maintaining, and presenting a variety of work-related records and reports.

• Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivating employees.

• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

• Ability to obtain the RCMP Reliability Status (required prior to the commencement of work).

• A strong understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations.

• Preference will be given to candidates who already possess the RCMP Reliability Status and have municipal RCMP management or supervision experience.

• Thorough knowledge of the methods, principles, and practices used in the operation of PRIME, CPIC, JUSTIN, INTELEX, UCR and OSR scoring, IntelliBook/IntelliScreen, and other related policing software is considered an asset.

• Must adhere to the RCMP Code of Conduct and uphold the highest ethical standards as outlined by the RCMP’s core values of integrity, honesty, professionalism, compassion, respect, and accountability.
