Prep Cook for OMVC Economic Development Food Truck

Hours: Full-time

Flexible Wage: Starting at $21.64 per hour

Location: Old Massett Village, Haida Gwaii

About the Organization: Join the Old Massett Village Council (OMVC) Economic Development team and become part of a vibrant community on the stunning North Coast of Haida Gwaii. Our mission is to create opportunities for our community members through innovative economic initiatives. As part of this mission, we are launching a Food Truck venture for the summer season, focusing on showcasing local seafood and daily catches, while embracing creativity and sustainability. About the Position: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our OMVC Economic Development Food Truck team. The Prep Cook will play a crucial role in supporting the Chef in food preparation, ensuring smooth operations and timely service.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Chef in preparing ingredients and kitchen for daily operations.
• Follow recipes and portion sizes accurately to maintain food quality and consistency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
• Always adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Collaborate with the Chef to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
• Assist in inventory management and stock rotation as needed.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience as a Prep Cook or Kitchen Assistant is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of Haida culture and values is an asset.
• Valid Food Safe handling certificate is preferred.
