HIRING FOR 2025 SEASON!!


POSITION SUMMARY 

Haida Tourism is a Haida-owned company, owned and operated by Haida Enterprise Corporation (HaiCo). HaiCo is focused on building Haida owned enterprises that reflect Haida cultural values, investing in the training and mentorship of Haida Citizens, creating careers and improving the lives of Haida Citizens and the economy of Haida Gwaii. 


Haida Tourism has an exciting opportunity for a service-oriented individual that wants to support the leadership and growth of the Haida House team. Reporting to the Head of Food & Beverage, the Lead Server will ensure that the dining room staff of Haida House are operating efficiently to deliver an exceptional guest experience and a positive and supportive team environment. The Lead Server role will include supporting recruitment, training, scheduling, and providing daily service to guests. The hours of work will include evenings and weekends.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Help support the Head of Food & Beverage with recruitment, training, retention, and performance management to ensure that there is an effective team. 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the dining room serving staff to support their success and recommend training opportunities as needed. 
  • Instill a positive and respectful working environment that follows all health and safety guidelines.  
  • Scheduling dining room servering staff shifts and approving any needed overtime hours. 
  • Ensure the restaurant is staffed so it can operate when needed.  
  • Provide daily serving, bartending, bussing, resetting, hosting, and any other assistance required as well as oversite and coordination of the activities of the front of house staff.   
  • Ensure the serving staff are friendly and provide the best guest experience.  
  • Ensure all areas are clean and well maintained.  
  • Support events and set-up service and cleaning, directed by the Guest Experience Coordinator 
  • Maintain knowledge of how to make house cocktails.  
  • Deal with guest complaints promptly and professionally.  
  • Ensure proper completion of ‘cash out procedures’ by staff.  
  • Other related duties as required. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

  • Strong organization, supervision, and time management skills.  
  • Ability to nurture a strong team environment.  
  • Understanding of Haida cultural values.  
  • Ability to deal with conflict in a calm and professional manner.  

 

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • 2+ years experience in front of house in hospitality business or restaurant. 
  • 1+ year experience of supervisory or management experience is considered an asset. 
  • Bartending experience is considered an asset.  
  • Working knowledge of restaurant point of sales systems.  
  • Demonstrated work experience in a team environment.
