Labourer - Ocean House

POSITION SUMMARY 

Haida Tourism is a Haida-owned company, owned and operated by Haida Enterprise Corporation (HaiCo). HaiCo is focused on building Haida owned enterprises that reflect Haida cultural values, investing in the training and mentorship of Haida Citizens, creating careers and improving the lives of Haida Citizens and the economy of Haida Gwaii. 

We are currently seeking motivated and reliable Labourers to join our maintenance team at Ocean House. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the premises. This position is ideal for individuals who are looking for flexible work hours and enjoy a dynamic work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Ready the property for the upcoming tourism season.
• Perform routine care taking tasks to ensure the cleanliness of guest-facing spaces, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
• Assist in maintaining a high standard and presentation throughout the property

Groundskeeping:

• Help maintain the exterior of the building, including parking areas, walkways, and landscaping.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Assist Other Departments:

• Collaborate with front desk staff to support guest services as needed.
• Assist in other departments as directed.

Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:

• Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
• Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of cleaning materials

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

• Previous experience in a similar role is an asset 
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying, as required for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Flexibility to work on a part-time, casual basis with varying hours.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

• Experience in housekeeping is considered an asset.
