Hours: 35 per week

Salary: $32.80

Term: 17 weeks seasonal


Who we are:

The Old Massett Village Council is a community of 1500 members on Haida Gwaii and an overall membership of approximately 3200 members. We are located on the beautiful North Coast of Haida Gwaii and are stewards of 29 Reserves with various land base sizes. We have approximately 70-100 full and part-time employees. General operations are comprised of, but not limited to, Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Housing, Registry, Education, Social Development, and Economic Development.


About the Role

Tide-Walkers is an OMVC program that helps connect our community with the land and waters through hands-on learning, culture, and restoration. Our two-year Environmental Restoration Program (ERP) kicks off in summer 2025 with 17 weeks of fieldwork and learning. We're looking for an Operations Manager to keep things running smoothly. You'll be on the ground, making sure everything is safe, organized, and welcoming. This is a leadership role is for someone who loves the land, works well with people, and can handle logistics.

  • Organized and good with budgeting
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Preference for OMVC Haida Citizens with knowledge of the land and culture


What You'll Do

  • Lead and support program activities
  • Keep participants safe and follow safety rules
  • Stay in touch with OMVC Steering Committee and Administration
  • Check for safety risks and develop emergency plans
  • Coordinate transportation, supplies, and other details
  • Keep track of the budget and resources
  • Gather community feedback and make improvements Write simple reports on program activities
  • Assign tasks to staff and volunteers


Skills & Experience

  • Leadership and problem-solving experience
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with camping, hiking, and leading groups outdoors
  • Understanding of Haida culture (Xaad Kil fluency is a plus)
  • Can handle conflicts and manage a team
  • Advanced First Aid certification (or willing to get it) • Valid Class 5 Driver's License


Work Conditions

  • Work outdoors, in the office, and in remote locations
  • Must have a cell phone for communication


Job Details

  • Start Date: April 2025
  • Term: Seasonal (April-September, for two years, with possible extension)
  • Pay Rate: $32.80 hour for 35 hours a week for 17 weeks
  • Location: Primary Camp - Yaagun Gandlee; Office - Old Massett
  • Reports to: OMVC Climate Action Coordinator
