An employment opportunity exists for a Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil & Culture Support Teacher effective as soon as possible or to the return of the incumbent or no later than June 30, 2025. This position primarily supports the Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil and Culture programs and development of resources that support the Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil Integrated Resource Package. The Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil & Culture Support Teacher works under the direction of the District Principal of Indigenous Education.

Requirements:

• Proficient fluency in Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting Xaad Kil/Xaayda Kil programs, reports and workshops to classes, staff, or community members.
• Working knowledge of and experience in Indigenous education.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy, problem-solving, sound judgement, and the ability to build effective relationships by using culturally relevant and appropriate approaches.
• Knowledge of, and ability to apply an understanding of Haida cultural principles and protocols in classroom situations.
• Awareness and understanding of key issues and opportunities for British Columbia Indigenous peoples.
• Strong organizational skills and a working knowledge of Indigenous pedagogy.
• Training and/or experience in the use of computers at a level appropriate to the

position.

• The ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, special education assistants, parents and administrators.
• A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position.
• Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

Competitive Salary: $65,971 - $113,321 per annum

Remote and Rural Allowance: $3,035 per annum

Travel Allowance: $1,136 per annum
