GIS Trainee

$23.32 – 24.26 per hour based on experience, Full-time 35-40 hrs. per week

DESCRIPTION 

As a GIS Trainee at the Council of the Haida Nation, you will be responsible for lower-level GIS practices. This training position is not just a job but a unique opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of GIS and Haida governance. It may lead to a more permanent position, allowing you to learn and master exciting new skills in GIS/mapping.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and generate maps and GIS database products
• Create GIS mapping products for analysis, education and display
• Learn to digitize, do data conversation and organize existing data.
• Deepen understanding of crucial governance documents in land and marine
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Solid and proven organizational skills
• Successful in working in a team environment
• Excellent focus and detail-oriented
• Class 5 Driver’s license
• Familiarity with Office and related computer programs
• Interest in and knowledge of Haida laws, values, traditions and Haida government
