Full-Time Term Position (Maternity Coverage) to June 1, 2026


Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with a mandate to provide employment programming and training to enhance the opportunities of the residents of the North Coast, Haida Gwaii and Bella Bella.

Are you passionate about helping individuals build confidence, gain new skills, and explore career pathways? Join Hecate Strait Employment Development Society (HSEDS) as a Gear Up Training Facilitator and play a key role in empowering people to achieve their employment and training goals.


What is Gear Up?

Gear Up is a 12-week personal growth, training, and career exploration program. Participants engage in 6 weeks of group training followed by 6 weeks in an individualized career training stream before starting their job search. The program blends virtual and in-person training, independent study, and community-based activities to support participants in their journey toward meaningful employment.


Key Responsibilities:

•Deliver engaging training sessions to help participants develop career and life skills.

•Create a positive and interactive learning environment.

•Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies for the program.

•Adjust training content and approach based on participant needs.

•Monitor progress and provide one-on-one coaching.

•Develop new training materials and update existing curriculum as needed.

•Build relationships with employers, community organizations, and stakeholders.

•Support clients with basic computer and digital literacy needs.

•Work collaboratively with team members in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii.

•Participate in organizational initiatives and events.


Desired Qualifications:

•Experience facilitating group training sessions.

•Ability to engage and inspire adult learners with diverse backgrounds.

•Knowledge of the local labour market and employer needs.

•Strong research, development, and communication skills.

•Ability to work effectively in virtual and in-person settings.

•Experience in human services, adult education, or customer service.

•Post-secondary education in social sciences, education, or a related field is an asset.

•Provincial Instructor Diploma or experience in computers, hospitality, construction, or customer service is an asset.

•Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.

•Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

•Valid driver’s license and ability to travel when needed.

•Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.


Requirements:

•Satisfactory criminal record check
