Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Haida Tourism is a Haida-owned company, owned and operated by Haida Enterprise Corporation (HaiCo). HaiCo is focused on building Haida owned enterprises that reflect Xaads Xiináangaa • XaaydaGa Xaaynang.ngaay Haida Ways of Being, support the aspirations of Haida communities and entrepreneurs, create careers and improve the economy of Haida Gwaii.


We are seeking a friendly and organized Front Desk professional to enhance the guest experience at our hotel/restaurant. This versatile role includes managing front desk operations, managing the reservations calendar, greeting and booking guests, assisting in booking spa amenities, and working in the gift shop. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and have a passion for providing exceptional service.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Front Desk Duties:

  • Welcome and check-in guests, ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process.
  • Provide information about hotel amenities, services, and local attractions.
  • Answer phone calls and emails in a timely manner addressing guest inquiries on accommodations and restaurant hours.
  • Handle guest inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Process reservations and manage room assignments, ensuring accurate billing.
  • Assist the guests with their activity planning by knowing island activities and recommended expereinces.
  • Schedule hotel guests for spa servicies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.


Gift Shop Duties:

  • Work at the gift shop till, processing sales transactions and handling cash.
  • Assist guests with inquiries about merchandise and make recommendations.
  • Maintain an organized and visually appealing display of products.


Guest Experience:

  • Foster a welcoming environment that encourages guest engagement and feedback.
  • Assist with special requests or arrangements for guests, such as reservations or celebrations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive and enjoyable experience for all guests.
  • Promote hotel/restaurant events and specials to enhance guest participation.
  • Assist with restaurant service if & when necessary.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using reservation systems and office software.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.


TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality or customer service training is a plus.
  • Previous experience in front desk, host, serving, or retail roles preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Understanding of Haida/Indigenous cultures is highly desirable.
