Job Description

Community Futures Prince Rupert is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for an Export Advisor! This contract position is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by helping businesses from Haidi Gwaii to Houston, along the Highway 16 corridor explore new markets through the Export Navigator Program. As an Export Advisor, you will be the first point of contact on a BC business’ journey towards exporting across borders into Alberta, US, Europe or Asia.

The Export Navigator Program provides businesses across BC with access to export specialists who offer a personalized, step-by-step approach to exporting. This includes connecting businesses to vital market information, export programs, financial services, and business development experts.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively seek out companies and opportunities within the region to promote the Export Navigator Program.
  • Highlight the benefits of exporting as a strategy for business growth and diversification, both interprovincially and internationally.
  • Guide clients through an export-readiness diagnostic and support them through the Export Navigator process.
  • Serve as an advisor and coach to businesses, assisting them primarily in the awareness, planning, and early market entry stages of their export journey.
  • Participate in select events across the region, targeting entrepreneurs in various industries.
  • Develop tailored/customized service offerings such as webinars and manuals as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow Export Navigator Advisors across the province, including attending regular in-person meetings.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and be willing to travel throughout the territory to meet with clients.
  • Fulfill all tracking and reporting requirements for the program.
  • Drive clients to the CFDC suite of lending and counselling programs.

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of business development experience in international business, financial services, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of international business practices and trade.
  • Excellent communication skills, with public speaking experience.
  • Proven sales experience, especially in exporting products/services to different jurisdictions, provinces, or countries.
  • In-depth understanding of the rules and regulations regarding exporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and/or delivering training.
  • A valid BC Driver’s License.

Recommended:

  • Experience exporting BC products or services.
  • Experience as a business owner or in corporate management focusing on business expansion and diversification.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience working in a remote team environment is an asset.

Details:

  • Start Date: August 15, 2024
  • End Date: March 31, 2025 (with the option to renew based on funding availability)
  • Annual Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 based on experience
  • Hours: 30-35 hrs. per week on average (each month ranging from 120 hours to a maximum of 140 hours).
  • The Export Navigator Program will provide training and ongoing support.

Location: This is a remote position, with the successful candidate required to reside within the region. (Prince Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Hazelton, Smithers, Houston)
