An employment opportunity exists for a CONTINUING Part-Time (0.143 FTE) Dance
Foundations with a Focus on Haida Dance & Song 11/12 Teacher effective September 1, 2025 at
GidGalang Kuuyas Naay Secondary School.
Requirements:
• Demonstrated knowledge of Haida dance, song and protocol.
• A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position;
• Understanding and being committed to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation
commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of
children;
• High level of skills related to successful classroom management, and to the development and
maintenance of a positive classroom climate;
• Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students’
strengths and for their academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs;
• Assume responsibility for the development and execution of Individual Education Plans and
Behaviour Support Plans;
• Knowledge of school-based teams;
• Demonstrated ability in creating safe inclusive learning environments where students are
connected, supported, engaged and challenged;
• Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with
students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators;
• Understanding of local resources and environment;
• Teacher Regulation Branch certification.
Competitive Salary: $9,433 - $16,204 per term
Remote and Rural Allowance: $434 per term
Travel Allowance: $162 per term
