Job Description

Term Position: Seasonal, Summer

Hours: Full-time

Flexible Wage: Starting at $27.05 per hour

Location: Old Massett Village, Haida Gwaii

About the Organization: Join the Old Massett Village Council (OMVC) Economic Development team and become part of a vibrant community on the stunning North Coast of Haida Gwaii. Our mission is to create opportunities for our community members through innovative economic initiatives. As part of this mission, we are launching a Food Truck venture for the summer season, focusing on showcasing local seafood and daily catches, while embracing creativity and sustainability. About the Position: We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to lead our OMVC Economic Development Food Truck. The ideal candidate will have a flair for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes using locally sourced ingredients. This is an opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and contribute to the success of a dynamic and community-focused project.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and execute a menu focused on local seafood and catch of the day specials.
• Collaborate with OMVC Economic Development Manager Ivy Bell and Executive Assistant Shannon White to create a menu that is fast, profitable, and visually appealing.
• Handle all aspects of food preparation, ordering, and pricing.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.

• Actively participate in community events and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food truck kitchen and storage area. Qualifications:
• Certification in Food Safe handling.
• Experience working as a Chef or Cook, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Creativity and innovation in menu development.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Haida culture and values is an asset.
• Valid driver's license is preferred but not required.
