We are looking for experienced Batch Plant Operators interested in working at our Concrete Batch Plant on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, BC. These positions will work 14 days on/14 days off, 10-hour per day rotation.
Batch Plant Operator
CIF Construction is a premium heavy civil contractor specializing in concrete and earthworks, delivering high quality projects for a range of industries including mining, oil & gas, forestry, and energy. We are looking for experienced Batch Plant Operators interested in working at our Concrete Batch Plant on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, BC. These positions will work 14 days on/14 days off, 10-hour per day rotation.
Workdays include performing tasks such as:
· Operating and controlling automated systems to batch and mix concrete according to project specifications
· Adjusting batch ratios of cement, water, sand, and aggregate to ensure proper mix consistency and quality
· Monitoring the mixing process to ensure the correct properties of the finished product, such as workability and strength
· Overseeing the inventory of raw materials (cement, aggregates, additives, etc.) and ensuring they are available for production
· Coordinating the delivery of raw materials to the plant and assisting in unloading materials as needed
· Ensuring the proper storage of raw materials to prevent contamination or damage
· Operating and monitoring plant equipment, including concrete mixers, conveyors, scales, and storage bins
· Conducting regular equipment inspections and performing minor repairs and adjustments to maintain optimal functioning
· Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and communicating with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs
· Performing quality control checks to ensure concrete meets specified standards and regulations
· Taking samples of concrete to conduct slump tests, air content tests, or strength tests, as required
· Adjusting the batching process to correct any issues with the mix
· Using computerized control systems to monitor and adjust batching process
· Ensuring that all batch records are correctly documented, including material usage and production quantities
· Setting up and adjusting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or other systems used to control the batch process
· Coordinating with dispatchers to ensure timely delivery of concrete to job sites
· Ensuring that concrete is mixed to the correct specifications and ready for delivery at the scheduled time
· Monitoring delivery trucks and ensuring they are properly loaded and sealed
· Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries
· Inspecting equipment for safety hazards, such as faulty wiring, gas leaks, or malfunctioning parts
· Ensuring the safe handling of hazardous materials and wearing proper personal protective equipment
· Operating material handling equipment to move materials
· Maintaining and cleaning equipment and machinery used for concrete mixing
· Cleaning and organizing the batch plant area to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
· Working at heights
· Working and operating in all weather conditions
For this position you come equipped with:
· Five + years’ related work experience in concrete production
· Demonstrated commitment to working safely
· Valid class 1 or 3 driver’s licence is an asset
· Preference to those with valid operating certificates including mixer truck, excavator, loader, dozer, skidsteer
· Equipment maintenance skills including oil changes and hose replacements
· Concrete pump truck operating certificate is an asset
· Experience working on industrial projects is an asset
· Valid WHMIS certification
· Valid First Aid certificate is an asset

The rate for this position is between $45.01-49.99 per hour based on experience.
