Prior to the current COVID-19 pandemic, CWA hosted annual internal innovation competitions, regular lunch-and-learn sessions, as well as participating in intramural sports and after-work activities within the Broadway Tech Centre. We have since moved our internal innovation competitions and lunch-and-learn sessions to a virtual setting and we anticipate intramural sports and after-work activities to resume once it is safe to do so again.

We are seeking a structural engineer for our team. The position will be based in our Prince Rupert office.

Position overview:

As an integral member of our structural team your role will include preparing structural designs (steel, concrete, and timber), specifications, technical reports, and capital cost estimates. In addition, this position will involve performing field assignments including structural condition inspections for facilities and equipment, on site construction reviews, and preparing drawings and proposals.

This position involves travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and other engineering consultants. The position also involves performing engineering and design for a variety of projects that are often related to the inspection work being performed.

Who you are:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

·       A Bachelor’s Degree in structural engineering and registration as a professional engineer with EGBC.

·       Relevant design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings, and structural support systems for process equipment.

·       Experience conducting inspections and repairs for infrastructure at ports, marine terminals, and mines for a range of bulk materials handling equipment.

·       A demonstrated ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.

·       A demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team.

·       Ability to work independently.

·       Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.

·       Strong attention to detail.

·       A valid BC driver’s license.

·       Construction experience is a benefit but is not necessarily required.
