Job Description : The payroll clerk assists the organization’s Financial Department. The payroll clerk updates and maintains the payroll database and system and works alongside the finance clerk and human resources

Roles & Responsibilites :

  • Review new hire packages for completeness of paperwork for timely payroll processing
  • Provide support to employees around timesheet entries
  • Primary responsibility to maintain the accuracy of the payroll databases including processing compensation adjustments, pension contributions
  • Runs accurate time and pay-related reports, as requested
  • Export bi-weekly timesheets to payroll processing system
  • Preview all entries in the payroll processing system; verifies correct transmission between systems, and as requested submits batches for pay processing
  • As requested, process manual entries through the payroll processing system including the payment of contractors, stop payments, wage adjustments, retro payments, bonuses and other earnings
  • Prepare ROE (Record of Employment) submissions to Service Canada through the payroll processing system
  • Implement a tracking system for annual, sick, and flex leave
  • Other payroll duties, as assigned
  • Work alongside Finance Clerk and Human Resources

Education & Training :

  • Highschool Diploma or GED
  • Post Secondary Education in Finance, Accounting, or similar is an asset
  • Computer skills to effectively use spreadsheet and word processing programs (Excel and Word)

Wage : $28.57 – $32.14 (based on experience)

Benefits : Included after 3 months probationary period

Job Location : Niislaa Naay Healing House Society, Old Massett

Work Schedule : Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
