Overview

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Prince Rupert terminal is recruiting for an Operator to join the team. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor in the Natural Gas Liquids business unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s facilities division. The Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit is involved in the fractionation, terminaling, and storage of our specification products throughout North America.

 


Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Have a safety conscious attitude for all day-to-day operations by ensuring Pembina’s Corporate Safety Standards are met;
  • Promote and support the use of PMM (Pembina Maintenance Management);
  • Assist the PMM coordinator with planning, scheduling, and executing of work;
  • Ensure work orders are completed properly in SAP;
  • Recommend improvements to facility efficiency and optimization;
  • Act as a liaison between control room and field operations team to ensure all operational regulatory requirements are completed;
  • Ensure procedures are updated regularly, maintained and task observations are completed for the Operations staff. Assist in creating THA’s (Task Hazard Assessment) when required to perform safe work and develop site specific procedures as required;
  • Identify operational and safety improvements;
  • Support Lead Operators in the development and implementation of training; program(s). Monitor and assess staff capabilities through continual task observations;
  • Review, understand and utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures/standards in performing all facets of work;
  • Ensure a high standard of safety by ensuring proper procedures are followed in relation to operational and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is properly prepared for maintenance;
  • Maintaining close surveillance of all operating conditions to maximize production, process reliability and efficiency;
  • Take immediate and decisive actions in emergencies, equipment shutdowns, equipment failures, and equipment process deviations;
  • Continuous upgrade of knowledge by taking various courses and in-house training relating to qualifying themselves for further advancement;
  • Work effectively in a team environment in starting up and/or shutting down various pieces of equipment in the process area;
  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or repair, identifies problems and recommended solutions;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills that are aligned with Pembina’s core values;
  • Be responsible for daily facility operations including measurement concepts, product quality, facility inspections and facility integrity activities;
  • Assist with facility maintenance activities;
  • Participate in emergency response exercises;
  • Perform various assignments related to health, safety, and the environment in compliance with company standards and adhere to Pembina’s Safety Culture of “Zero by Choice”; and
  • Fostering a team environment that values inclusion and diversity.

 


Qualifications

  • Experience using SAP Maintenance Management highly desirable;
  • Strong understanding of facility operations and ability to guide daily operations within the scope of Pembina’s specific operating practices and applicable industry standards and regulations;
  • Demonstrate and encourage teamwork within all operational teams;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
  • GPO level B (or equivalent);
  • 5 – 10 years operational experience required;
  • Rail yard and/or marine loading operational experience highly desirable; and
  • On-call availability as per district needs.

 

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
