Heritage and Natural Resource Department Program Manager (Full Time)


The CHN Heritage & Natural Resources Department is looking for a HNRD Program Manager. We are a department engaging in Forest Stewardship and Monitoring including Cultural Feature Identification training, administration and survey audit program, Land Use Order Objective effectiveness monitoring, Forest and Range Evaluation Program monitoring (collaborative project with BC), post-harvest incident tracking/audits, ecological monitoring, and cedar stewardship area plan implementation with and for the Haida Nation.

We are responsible for Solutions Table and HGMC technical support and administration, and CHN Heritage & Natural Resource Committee support, GIS/Mapping services and data management; and Archaeological Monitoring fee for service program. The HNRD Program Manager supports the goals and objectives of the Haida Nation.

The Heritage and Natural Resource Program Manager is responsible:

  • To develop, implement, and maintain programs, budgets, work plans and services with the Department.
  • Demonstrate effective management of human, financial and information resources by researching, implementing, developing and monitoring relevant timelines and schedules for operations.
  • As part of the Stewardship team, participate in development of a strategic Plan to guide the above.

We’re looking for someone who has effective leadership skills that enhances the Heritage and Natural Resource Department goals and service provisions.


  • understand Haida values and governance, and you are familiar with governing documents, like the Constitution of the Haida Nation, Haida Accord, and the Haida Gwaii Land Use Vision.
  • lead teams with a clear and collaborative approach and establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • have strong project management skills and management experience to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • are approachable with strong connections to all Haida Gwaii’s communities.
