Haida Gwaii Regional Recreation Commission (HGRRC) is hiring a seasonal full-time Day Camp Leader to develop, implement, facilitate & report on our summer camp programming for local youth ages 5 – 12 years in four (4) island communities: Sandspit, Queen Charlotte, Port Clements, & Masset. Earliest start date is June 14, 2021 effective to August 27, 2021 at 35hrs/week, $20-22/hr. This position is under direct supervision of the HGRRC Recreation Coordinator.


In light of COVID-19, the structure of programming will be adjusted in accordance with health & safety guidelines from the Province and local leadership. Utilizing outdoor spaces, routine daily screening of staff and kids, frequent cleaning and ensuring staff and children who have cold or flu symptoms do not attend summer camps are examples of risk mitigation measures.   • Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years
  • Valid BC driver’s license + access to a personal vehicle
  • Level 1 First Aid
  • High5 training and Run, Jump, Throw training an asset, but High5 will be provided
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with school aged children and youth
  • Experience with management, administration & marketing an asset
  • Possess excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of community & local services
  • Energetic and creative in working with and planning activities for youth
