Position Summary: Support youth and children who live with developmental delays and require guidance to learn new social and life skills. Support parents/guardians to adapt their skills/approaches to help their children.
Education & Training: Diploma in Human/Social Services field + one-year experience working with children and youth with special needs OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Interview and assessment skills to identify client’s needs and potential risks
• Class 5 driver’s licence, clear driver’s abstract and daily access to and use of vehicle
• Comprehensive organizational skills while working with limited supervision
• Understand, demonstrate and maintain professional boundaries with co-workers, clients and other stakeholders
• Clear Criminal Record review
• Develop and implement short-term goals and specific intervention plans with program guidelines
• Experience working with children or youth groups utilizing conflict resolution techniques as necessary
• Prepare and facilitate groups/individual sessions addressing specific social/life skills development goals
• Evaluate effectiveness of intervention plans and problem solve concerns with supervisor
• Consult with supervisor prior to implementing intervention plans
