This course is in conjunction with the Geophysical Contractors of Canada (CAGC) and provides awareness to the proper handling and operating of a chainsaw.

Topics include:

  • Personal protection
  • Chainsaw Maintenance and Handling
  • Safe falling
  • Limbing
  • Bucking Practices

This course requires a minimum of 16 hours theory and hands-on training, followed by a written exam.

Students are strongly advised to bring the following protective gear to class:

  • Steel-toed boots
  • Hard hat
  • High visibility clothing (such as vest, etc.)
  • Safety pants (chainsaw pants)
