Skills Connect for Immigrants

Are you an internationally trained professional living in Haida Gwaii, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Smithers or Terrace who has been a permanent resident for up to 5 years?

Are you seeking training and support to help you make use of your education, experience and skills for a career in Canada?

Skills Connect can help you receive support with funding for Workplace English Language Training, skills training, and offers employment coaching and workplace orientation to ease the transition into the Canadian workplace.

If you are unemployed, or working in a job that under-utilizes your skills, we can help you:

  • Assess your skills and experience
  • Enhance English Language Skills for the Professions
  • Prepare for Language Exams and Licensing Courses
  • Get industry-specific skills training
  • Learn about the Canadian workplace
  • Network with employers
  • Obtain employment

The BC Skills Connect for Immigrants initiative is a provincial strategy to help skilled immigrants transition into jobs that match their skills and qualifications. Hecate Strait Employment Development Society is the regional service provider for ASPECT BC’s Community-Based Trainers.
